 Nigerian Police Re-Arrest Sowore Outside Kuje Court, Punch And Drag Him Into Waiting Van Moments After Bail Chaos erupted on Friday outside the Kuje Magistrate Court in Abuja after police officers punched and forcefully dragged human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore , into a waiting vehicle despite the court granting him bail. Sources on the court premises said the incident occurred moments after the magistrate granted bail to Sowore and 13 others. While his legal team was in the process of perfecting his bail conditions, police officers, led by the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in charge of the case, identified as CSP Ilyasu Barau , OC Anti-Vice, under DC-CID , FCT Command , pounced on him, manhandled him, and forced him into a waiting police van.   Two injured as bus collides with truck on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Two people were injured on Tuesday when the driver of a bus rammed into a moving truck on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State. The crash involved a Toyota bus with an unknown registration number and a truck. Spokesperson of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday. Akinbiyi said that the two persons involved in the accident sustained injuries from the crash. He said that the cause of the crash was due to the bus driver hitting a moving truck from behind and that the driver of the truck drove off immediately after the crash. The TRACE PRO said that the injured driver and the motor boy had been taken to an unknown hospital. They described the move as “the worst possible injustice any family could be made to go through.” In a statement on Monday, Dr Bello Mohammed, on behalf of the family, said that the decision by President Bola Tinubu to include Sanda among the 175 inmates recently pardoned under the Prerogative of Mercy principle had reopened painful wounds that had barely healed. “To have Maryam Sanda walk the face of the earth again, free from any blemish for her heinous crime as if she had merely squashed an ant, is the worst possible injustice any family could be made to go through for a loved one,” the statement partly read.   New CBN policy: 40 per cent PoS operators may turn jobless – Agents 12th October 2025 A  new policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria on agent banking may push about 40 per cent Point-of-Sale operators out of business. The National President of the Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents of Nigeria , Fasasi Sharafadeen , told  the news  that the recently released guidelines by the apex bank could cripple small-scale businesses and threaten the country’s financial inclusion efforts. The CBN released new operational guidelines for agent banking, capping the daily cumulative transactions per PoS agent at N1.2m . Under the new framework, all agent banking transactions must be conducted through a dedicated account or wallet maintained by the principal financial institution to ensure transparency and better oversight.
